Nota de aplicación

A class of compounds containing nitrogen and chlorine. Two types of chloramine have been used in the past as a bleach for paper. Chloramine-B, introduced in 1937, was eventually replaced by the more easily controllable chloramine-T which itself proved problematic: it reacts with aluminum and other metals precipitating residues that are hard to remove. Chloramine-T is now used as a disinfectant, antiseptic, and biocide. In conservation it is used for removing fungal stains from stone and in bleaching treatments of aged paper.
