Rare mineral that occurs as pale yellow crystals. Phosgenite is formed in the oxidation zone of lead ore deposits. Phosgenite has been identified as a constituent in ancient Egyptian cosmetic powders; it appears to have been synthetically produced using “wet” chemistry.
