Members of a class containing up to 8,000 species of long, flattened, many-segmented predaceous arthropods, in which each segment except the hindmost bears one pair of legs for a total of 14 to 177 pairs, and having one pair of long, many-jointed antennae, and a pair of jawlike venomous claws just behind the head.
