Decorative leather material produced by covering pieces of uniformly-sized vegetable-tanned leather with leaves of silver or tin foil and orange and yellow varnish that imparted a golden hue. Three-dimensional designs were added using stamps or embossing molds. Further color was added using paints and glazes.
