Figures made of porcelain, wood, ivory, or another material, usually representing a female and only from the waist up. The object typically has a punched hole other feature near the bottom, intended to allow the half doll to be sewn or otherwise attached to a solid base or to a lower body made of a cheaper or softer material. For similar objects attached to a cage-like base, use "cage dolls."
