Member of the Bantu branch of Niger-Congo languages; it is now spoken in Uganda, in the southeast, primarily Buganda province, Lake Victoria northwest shore to Lake Kyoga and Tanzania border. It is spoken by around million Baganda people, who live mainly in the Buganda region of Uganda, and elsewhere in Uganda as a second language. The name Uganda is the Swahili version of Baganda.
