Definición

The act of adding biological agents to contaminated environments in order to neutralize, remove, or break down contaminants; e.g., the process of biodeterioration induced by the introduction of bacteria into an oil spill. Bioremediation is of use in stone conservation for the removal of algae and other organisms, and in collections care for nontoxic pest control.
