The act of exchange or contract by which parties trade goods or commodities for other goods of equivalent value. Distinguished from 'selling', which is defined as a transaction of goods or property for money. Use 'exchange' in specific instances where goods are exchanged for goods or exchange media, or where 'barter' is less appropriate.
