Transcriptions focusing on the pronunciation of the transcribed words or text. Examples include the use of phonetic symbols as an abbreviation for a phonetic description; some of the allophones may be represented by specific symbols, or some of the phonemes may be designated by the symbols for a more restricted set of categories.
