time-domain reflectometry
Nota de aplicación
Measurement method originally used to to detect properties of electrical transmission lines; and more recently as a technique to determine dielectric water content in stone structures and in soil. It involves applying stepped voltage in pulses and observing reflected waveforms which reflect discontinuities by amplitude. The distance to the reflecting impedances is measured by the time it takes a pulse to return.
