Political entities of any size that are dependent upon another country or power. These political units are generally regarded as territories that are fully or partially subject to the other state. Examples of dependent political entities are American Samoa and Guam, which are dependent on the United States, and Bermuda and the Virgin Islands, which are dependent on the United Kingdom.
