Species of pine native to the mountains of Oregon and California, United States, and Baja California, Mexico. It is one of the largest species of pine, 40-60 m (130-200 feet) in height. The species is prominent in the Achumawi First People creation myth, in which the creator drops a seed from the tree to make one of the first people.
