Rooms or areas in domestic architecture set aside for the care of babies and young children, distinguished from "night nurseries," which contain only bedding and supplies for nighttime care. Day nurseries typically serve as playrooms and schoolrooms. They are also distinguished from "day care centers," which are public or private facilities for the care of groups of children, while the day nursery is in the children's home.
