Nota de aplicación

Type of chordophone with strings and keys, superficially resembling a harpsichord, but functioning like a hurdy-gurdy. The strings are bowed, creating sustained tones, by means of a series of parchment-covered metal wheels that are brought in contact with the strings by pressing the keys. The wheels were powered either by a footpedal or a crank.
